Today, we continue to honor this legacy by producing exceptional wines that reflect the unique terroir of Silgueiros, where ancient traditions meet modern winemaking techniques.
The Meaning Behind the Name
The name "Penseira" has its roots in local legend. The site where our quinta is located was traditionally known as the "penseira" - a place of reflection and contemplation. According to local stories, inhabitants of the region would come to this beautiful slope overlooking the Dão river to find peace and tranquility, to "think" about life's challenges and find spiritual solace in the breathtaking natural surroundings.
